I have been granted media accreditation for a club meeting at Silverstone. It will be my first time trackside at a circuit (although a regular at race circuits either taking photos or assisting with our own F3 car in paddock/pits/scruiteering so know some of the etiquette) - although I have covered some sprints and other events "trackside". Got my insurance sorted. Slightly nervous - guess thats a good thing.

My particular interest is covering two races - each has a 15 minute qualifying and a 15 minute race.

The cars will be small Formula cars - Formula Fords to Formula 3's. Qualifying in late morning, racing towards end of afternoon.

So, given the options, where would you stand (and why)?

I know the mods will move this, but I generally only read the motorsport forum, but will follow "moved" threads if there is a trail left behind

Well done you on the accreditation..........
Right, you have to have at least one shot from the outside of copse as this will give you the Silverstone sign down the straight, park your car on the infield and use the tunnel at that end of the pit lane, then grab your shots on lap one because if the action will happern it's turn one lap one. You then have the option of moving to the other end of the pits and to get infront of the BRDC grandstand for the view back up the straight, most overtaking on the national circuit takes place here. Have a wonder around, remember your backgrounds and I'm sure you will come away with some good images.
Enjoy it, thats the main thing.

Copse for the shot down the pit straight, Becketts outside exit - good overtaking point and lots of "action", in front of the BRDC grandstand for the reasons Shaun noted, exit of Luffield (outside).
