I have a 12' x 24' raw muslin that I would like to paint. I was in school today and they are remodeling. I noticed some drop cloths that looked like they could be used as backdrops. So, I have seen some on ebay that looked good and were painted by the sellers. I am thinking that if they could do it, I could do it. Any ideas? Here is a link to something I am looking for. A really big one like that might be too heavy to move around to a location, so you'll end up using it in just one studio.

If you're planning on either rolling, folding or stuffing it into a bag to move it around, you'll need to use dyes rather than heavy pigment-based paints. Otherwise you'll get cracking and flaking. Painted drops are quite common in theatre sets. For further advice, check out a good book on stagecraft and set design.
