View Full Version : Firefox vs CDS

Here is one of those random thoughts prone to strike mid afternoon on a Friday.

What is stronger, the Firefox spell checker, or a CyberDyneSystems Keyboard?

In a fight to the death of the English language, who would be win?
Can a browser out smart the cause of an apocalypse?
Is a team of software engineers smarter than a global AI?
Where is HAL?

How about a 12 year old Chavis Regal?

That should put both firefox and the CDS keyboard to the test.

I would like to have you all know that I do not start pointless threads.

This is a serious topic that needs our serious consideration.

it's true...it is most serious!

WHY are we drinking Scotch when we should be drinking Tequila?

Ce Senior, I am paying tribute to my Scottish roots.

(being Scottish myself...) how about we meet in the middle...drink Tequila in Scotland and wait for firefox to meltdown against the onslaught of CDS's keyboard?

Sounds like a good compromise, now all we need is the master of the keyboard himself.

O-kay, sort of on topic thread revival...

Any idea why on the WinXP PC I have at work, I can;t find the "persdict.dat" file anywhere?
None fo the folders are laid out as described in all the online "how to Edit the Firefox dictionary" tutorials,. There is no "mozilla" folder in the application data directory,.
A search through all the C: drive (the only drive on this PC) comes up empty.. and yet I have custom words accidentally added to the spell check*

*Score one for CDS!

Have the newer versions changed the file name and location (and folders) ?

If it were me; I'd:
1. Add a bogus word to the online dictionary
2. add the reg hack for XP to search all files and not just "known file types"
3. Search for the bogus word in c:\ for files *.*

I use IE; so that's as far as I can assist.
good luck.

Not according to my setup, with the latest version of Firefox on XP. My path is:

C:\Documents and Settings\Lonnie DeCloedt\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\26nznf29.default\per sdict.dat (the forum software inserted that space in the filename)

If you can't find that in a similar path, I don't know what to suggest...
