This store has the 20D at a good price (£1048) but be aware all manuals are in French. To be fair to Pixmania, the site does say so but you really have to look for it.
I and many others, according to the nice lady at Canon, have been caught out.
No problem - just adds £13:30 to the cost for the manual set in English.

You can also download all the manuals FREE from the Canon Website.

I also bought the 20D from Pixmania - excellent service and prices. I also bought the G2 from them a few years ago with similar experinces (and French manuals!!)

I just purchased the 20D and am very happy with the result. Both camera and pixmania.
Add "priceuk067" for a furhter £20 off. this will pay for your manuals.
DHL deliver fast and you get a free crap pixmania camera strap - YIPPEE!
So far so good.

I got mine 2 weeks ago from them and printed the Manual in A5 size download from the internet. The price is good, quick delivery,no complain! I should order from them before I waste months time waiting for the 20D in UK online shop.
Cheers...

Nomatica have the 20d for £947 - www.nomatica.co.uk - downside is you have to do a telegraphic transfer (£25 ) and I don't think they have any in stock at the mo.
Jessops would probably have pricematched pixmania as they are classed as a uk company ( unlike Nomatica )

I bought mine from pixmania 5-6 weeks ago as they were the only shop who had them in stock at that time and it was in my hands within 2 days.
I sent it back at the cost of over £60 postage (DHL priority) and was given a replacement. I was treated a bit like a criminal for even wanting to send it back and had to fill in a load of forms.
They specified that they wanted it back in a condition that they could re-sell it, glad none of you guys got it
and no, Jessops will not price match as they are French.

That funny little green strip with 'Pixmania' on it is a camera strap???
Glad somebody told me :)
However, I had waited 2 months with Warehouse Express and finally gave up - so well done Pixmania.

I agree that Pixmania is the absolute best price wise, and I had great service also when i bought a 350D a few weeks ago. No company would price match..least of all Jessops, who won't price match an internet price anyway. Slight delay whilst awaiting stocks, but I was aware of that when I placed the order. I was kept informed, and alerted by email when stocks arrived, and was able to track delivery progress throughout. Arrived in excellent condition. True the manuals are in german/italian/french, but no bother...I downloaded the manual from Canon Asia website. You do need Adobe v7 to be able to print it..older versions don't work. I printed out at full size A4 on quality glossy paper, and my secretary bound it for me with acetate cover..great readable font size reference copy for the shelf! Any pages I needed to carry in the field..(to be honest not many as all is intuitive, especially to a canon EOS lover)..I print small and staple so pocket sized and handy and can be replaced when scribbled on and tatty.! As for the free compact flash card...go and register on the Canon gateway Site...follow the promotion link and enter the promotion number on the sticker on top of the box..numbers are numbers despite the gernam writing it is clear that it is the code..and you will receive the free card! Exactly as promised! Voila! Merci Pixmania, and an unbeatable price!

of all Jessops, who won't price match an internet price anyway. they have for me, i think it depends on where the co. is based - price matched on warehouseexpress and 7dayshop.
they have also been advertising they will price match ANY advert in digital photo magazine

What a ludicrous business model Jessops has become. Walk in off the street and you will be quoted a very high price. Quote a better price and you will get if for less.
I walked in to look at tripods and they showed me some and gave me the price. They I suggested I would try and find the cheapest price and get back to them. The response was that I wouldn't get the service – priceless!
Bet you are wondering if I bought it or not?

I went into a jessops to get, what I assumed would be a rather simple item to acquire...how wrong I was!
for some time I've been using blu tac to hold my 'P' filters to the lens to take landscapes, so I thought sod it, I'll get a holder and make things easier. so I amble in ask the guy and he has NO idea. mumbles a bit and says 'how do you spell that?' tapping into a computer...5mins later someone, I assume is the manager, wanders by and I collar him to see if they have what I want - he knows what it is and digs around for one. unfortunately they don't have 'just' the holder but sell the holder with the cokin filter book...which I have downloaded for free...but it adds, what, £5 onto the price. I tried to explain to this boy all I wanted was "just the holder and the adapter ring"
'the adaptor-what?' ... I left rapidly.
saddly london camera exchange were expecting some in but had none. at least they knew what it was I was after and were willing to make a couple of calls to their other stores and have one brought in if any where had one...that is what I call service, not some clueless kid who has no idea for what he's selling.
oh, one thing I did get from jessops was my excellent sony P200. i got it for less than ANY WHERE i've seen online or otherwise...well it was £299 when it cam out but I got it for £230, so i got a reasonable deal :P
i went for an interview at jessops, just because [luckily I didn't go there] but I was really put off by how they sell. basically they have targets and push things to people who are none the wiser e.g. fred's weekly target is £3000, he achieves this by selling bags, film, tripods etc on top of the actual camera sold...I didn't like the idea of this target set so basically said [in polite terms] stuff you if thats how you expect your employees to work. and now as a consumer I know how it works so I know I can play the seller a bit ;) you do get some very knowledgable guys who are very good at what they do - at the end of they day though they all still want your money...

Just be aware that Pixmania bought Digital cameras - especially DSLRs - will NOT have a Canon UK warranty; this applies to 7Day Shop as well. Worth the saving to have to return it to them and not have Canon sort it out if all else fails?

Paul, when you purchase any Canon product, don't you receive automatically an international warranty? I believe you may lose cashbacks and stuff like that, but I am not sure regarding the warranty... could you please confirm this guys?
Cheers,
Tony

How else are they going to make money though? Camera stores only make their money by selling accesories, they make sod all on the cameras themselves. They have to push their own brand stuff etc. otherwise they'll barely break even, that's why they don't give thing like that away for free very often.

You can check with Canon yourselves but it has always been my understanding that Canon UK will honour warranties on lenses bought from anywhere but will NOT honour warranties on digital cameras - especially DSLRs.
The crux of the matter is that a Canon UK sourced body will have a UK manual and proper UK charger and leads. OK to you it may not be a big deal to swop the charger lead for a UK one but it seems that to Canon UK it is; and as they make the rules.............
7Day Shop and Pixmania both source from outside the UK - 7Day from the USA and Pixmania is a French company so the DSLR bodies will not be Canon UK stock. A friend bought a !DMk2 from the States when they were as rare as hens teeth in the UK and Canon UK told him that any warranty work would be charged for - or he could send it back to the USA supplier!
I have bought a lens from 7Day and would do so again, but a DSLR body? It would have to be an amazing saving

sony23,
I'm interested in your situation with the 20D.
Did it go direct to Canon or via 7Day?
Did Canon ask for any proof of purchase?
Perhaps the calibration your 20D required was not classed as warranty repair. if parts/labour had been needed it may have been different.
This is a matter which should really be cleared up as experiences like yours muddy the water and no-one sems to really know what the situation is anymore.
Anyone else had similar/worse/different experiences with Canon UK warranty work on non-Canon UK sourced equipment? Time for a thread on this subject?

Paul my 20d had AF problems in the camera and they replaced a ciruit board in the camera under warranty, I had to show the receipt from 7dayshop and they said yes thats ok, I also took in a 28-135 IS that the AF had stopped on they repaired that and finerly they calibrated dare I say it a 70-200 L IS all from 7dayshop.
I went direct to canon as 7dayshop were a real pain, 7dayshop wanted to replace the 70-200 but first there "technicians yer right" would test it to see if it was the lense at fault or me, ( canon confirmed it was the lense ) but by the sound of it they were going to say it was me to charge me postage and restocking fees, plus they put this lense up another £80 and they said I would have to buy again at the new price, so I took it in to canon at Elstree.
Bruce
This is after they fixed and calibrated my gear. no pp straight from the camera, this is why I payed so much for this lense. Before calibration it looked very grainy.

Problem with 7DayShop is that they don't pay VAT, so if customs etc. have done their job, you'll have to pay the VAT when it arrives.

No I have a VAT receipt for all what I got from them to prove.
They started charging vat a few months ago.

7dayshop is on the chanel islands.i am sure they are part of great britain.
Great Britain is the main island of the United Kingdom; it consists of England, Scotland and Wales.
The United Kingdom consists of the Island of Great Britain, plus Northern Ireland (Hence the term "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland")
The Channel Islands are not part of either Great Britain or the United Kingdom; they are British Crown Dependencies. They are not even part of the European Union!
I bought my 20D + 17-85 lens + 580EX from digitalrev (Hong Kong) and paid import duty & VAT; I bought my L 70-200/f4 & 1.4x extender from 7dayshop. In both cases the prices were MUCH cheaper than Jessops!
