I am off to shoot some damage here in Lou, KY from the earthquake. Since it was so broad, didn't know if anyone had any shots of damage. If so, would love to see them.

I will put some up shortly.

Yes, it almost seems like a joke. Our "damage" was 10 feet of concrete valance on a building in downtown. By the time I got there, they had cleaned it up, and you couldn't even tell what happened. A huge "non" even, about a 7.1 on the boring scale!

Here are a couple of pics from the Loma Prieta Earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area.
It was on October 17th, 1989. It was a magnitude 6.9 with a surface magnitude of 7.1.
It took out the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge, and stopped the World Series baseball game that was happening at Candlestick Park.
I worked for a courier company in San Francisco at the time. When I left my house the next morning, I was sure to bring my camera with me.
I was shooting with a Canon AE-1 Program. These are some quick scans from the 19 year old photos out of an album. Given the opportunity to find the negatives, I'll try and rescan them.
These are of the Cypress Structure, which WAS a double decker freeway. You can see upper level now sitting on top of the lower level.

Thanks for sharing. You Bay City shakers would have laughed at the big deal they made out of it here. Definitely a dose of perspective would be nice.

I remember that night -- I was watching the game. Its amazing how understated events like that seem when you watch them on tube. Just like the 2nd plane hitting on 9/11. You know something extraordinary has just happened, and its like you were there in the middle of it, yet you weren't. It's odd.

I was sitting on a couch at a friends hose when it hit. I thought their daughter was shaking the couch from behind just to mess with me. Then I saw the tidal wave in the fish tank..... I knew it wasn't their kid.

Here are a couple of the buildings near the freeway.
