I know that all of you folks are very anal retentive about saving your boxes and I assume it is a resale thing.
What about everything inside (styrofoam, plastic bags and whatever)? I'm running out of room for the empty boxes.

Pretty much save everything in case I have to sell my gear, which I do quite often.

I save EVERYTHING. I take whatever I need out of the box, then I put all the plastic bags, wrapping materials, Styrofoam, etc back in and store it.

Me too. I think it gives the seller an extra piece of mind to have the plastic that the item came in, and such. I know if I was the buyer, it would.
I even shipped my last item that I sold in a B&H box!

I save absolutely eveything, including the original receipt which I keep in the box with the rest of the paperwork. It's really helpful to me for remembering when I bought the item and for warranty purposes.
When I buy gear I'm big on the "complete package" because it makes me feel like the seller cared enough about his gear to go to the trouble of saving all the packing and accessories.
If he went to the trouble of saving a bunch of stupid boxes he probably went to the trouble of taking good care of what was inside it.
It's also a must when you resell and ship an item, which I do a lot.

I know this is a bit off subject, but WOW Chauncy, over 2,000 posts in nine months. You deserve to get one of those snazzy nicknames that the mods pass our underneath your name like "The Most Postenest";)

Robert, when I came here nine months ago, I knew nothing about photography and I was dumber than a rock.
I have progressed though, now I'm only dumber than a post.
This site is a fantastic resource and I'm trying to milk it dry.

Lots of lens boxes will fit into the 70-200L f/2.8 IS box, just in case you needed some (more) justification :p.
I try to fit as many boxes into other larger boxes, and perhaps relocate the docs/styrofoam do a different location/receptacle.

Some internet buyers are obsessive about having boxes for some reason, so it's not bad to keep them just for possible resale hassles.
One nice thing about keeping boxes and all the innards is that they protect the gear well during shipping when you do sell.

I am a awful pack rat, I save everything. In fact some of my instructions books are still in their cellophane wrapper. I just download the pdf's.

When I buy used, boxes and original packaging means zero to me. Absolutely zero. But, I know there are plenty of people that will pay 'extra' for the boxes, so I have begun to save them myself for the day that I may want to sell something.

I shot with 1.6X sensor for a while and so I owned two EF-S lenses (10-22 and 17-55). When I sold the 1.6X body I sold the lenses.....all with boxes.
I have no nieces (or nephews, uncles, aunts etc) that are interested in photography.
