Battery Pack BP-508

Hi, can anybody tell me if I can use a Battery BP-508 in a Canon Digital Rebel?

The Digital Rebel original battery is BP-511, 7.4Volts and 1100 mAh
The Bp-508 is 7.4Volts and 800mAh

My guess is that the running time will be decreased with the BP-508 but will work without problems, Am I correct?

I've never seen a BP-508. Isn't it a video camera battery? Is is it the same form factor as the BP-511? If not, it may not want to stay securely in place and that would be a bad situation.

Both batteries are identical, the BP-508 fits perfectly in the battery compartment. Thanks.
