I am going to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from May 16-June 4th for study abroad (yay!) and I really really would love to bring my 30D, Sigma 10-20mm and possibly the Sigma 24-60mm too.
I currently don't have any of my camera gear insured under any type of policy (I know, bad!) and was considering just purchasing traveler's insurance just in case (I know Rio can be sketchy!).
Would any of you say this was not advisable? A great deal of my classmates/friends seem to think this would be a bad idea and I would be inviting people to rob me and whatnot . . .
Should I just bring my dinky lil SD1000 - which will be easier for me to keep concealed and it won't be as terribly heartbreaking should it be stolen/damaged. But then obviously I wouldn't capture the best images since it's so limited . . . .
