Both pics were shot with 40D and 28-135 kit lens and in RAW.
Picture one. He is pitching in a scrimmage game. I didn't realize I had done so, but I chopped of his foot. I really like the photo. Is there anything that can be done with it? Should I just crop it so I have only his upper body showing? Or should I just consider it lesson learned and shoot another day.

Picture two. Is a crop of a Blue Jay sitting on the top of the shed. The jay looks a little soft but he looks cool sitting on his belly and with his mouth open just so. Any PP techniques to make this pop a bit more? Thanks Andy

You could clone the existing leg from the ball player. I did this with my laptop and mouse. I would certainly want to use my tablet for a job such as this to ensure that the selection is done right in the first place and a tablet allow you to paint in the extended canvas better. This shot would obviously need a mound painted in.

The bird is tougher because you have lost so much detail. I created a couple of duplicate layers and changing them to multiply and then masking off the parts I didn't want this applied to. I did a selection of the roof and applied a pattern and a color overlay to make it darker.

Both image would be better working off of the original image. These are really quick fixes.

Wow! Thanks ssim. Ok. cool. So there is potential here. Don't have a tablet but I will try and work with the original raw images. Thanks again! Andy

You really need another shot of someones foot in the same shoe design turned in a bit. And the pitching rubber is missing. But here is my take although sloppily done.

Sloppy edit on my part all and all but I came back and added the pitching rubber.
