i shot this pic at a mates farm whilst shooting other items to advertise on fleabay for him, when i got them onto pc i quite liked the shot and decided to muck about with it a bit as follows
1.converted to B/W
2.levels adjustment on the sky
3.added some noise
this is the first time i have tried anything like this and i am looking for any pointers, before and after shots attatched.
cheers Andy.

While it's easy to distinguish that blue is different than red, in your b&w conversion they both look the same. This is because the luminance of the two tractors is very close to each other. I did a lighten red channel blend, followed by a luminosity blend to brighten up the red tractor. Then used the channel mixer to convert to b&w. This gives more contrast between the tractors, and they are clearly different colors.

Great example of how a monochrome version of a shot can be so much more dramatic than the color version.
The color version is just a ho-hum shot (a good ho-hum shot) while the B & W makes you see the sky right away, and the sky sets the mood.
Then, as you take in the details of the two tractors, your imagination goes wild trying to figure out what the two tractors are doing, have done, or are about to do.
I love it!
