Sabbaday Falls is another one of the waterfalls I shot last weekend, but it's a very tough place for a photographer as it's a very tight place. The upper falls pour into a pool and then down to the second set, which falls into a small gorge of sorts which is only 6 or 8 feet wide. The water then takes a sharp right turn, the gorge gets tighter, and the water barrels through and down another 6 or 8 feet in a roar.
The Park Service was nice enough to build a (very necessary) set of stairs along one side, and it was difficult to shoot the falls without the stairs. The lowest set abuts a 20-25 foot tall cliff, and this makes it difficult to get a shot of the lower falls.
Nonetheless I took many shots, and threw most of them out. I didn't think any were really worth posting, but this one caught my eye a couple times so I decided that it must be worthy.
It's truly a beautiful set of falls, and I highly recommend it if you're ever driving along the Kancamagus Pass. If you do, take your camera - just because I had a tough time doesn't mean you won't. And I'd love to see good shots of this waterfall so I can learn more.
Anyway, here it is:

Yeah, I'd say that this one is worthy of keeping. I remember once someone told me I was too tough on myself. Hmmmm wonder who that was.
This is a great shot. I really like it alot.

Geez Scottes; I don't think you've got to much more to learn, that shot is a beaut. Well worth the effort it took to take it.  Just love the composition and colors of this shot. NICE JOB :D

Very nice! I hope we get a lot of rain this winter and finally get out of this drought. Then maybe I can get some good shots of the local waterfalls in the spring. Most of them have dried up over the last couple years...

Thanks folks. I guess it's a keeper after all.
thomascanty, I can't believe the amount of water falling from these falls. It's halfway up the mountain and there hasn't been much rain, it's almost winter and there's been no snow. (Yet.) I don't know where the water has been coming from.

That's a great shot Scottes. It made your efforts to get to the falls very worthwhile! My question is, how do you get the water to look that way?

Simply a long shutter time. For this shot I went f/22, and had a circular polarizer on, which resulted in a 2 second exposure. It was taken with the 17-40 L at 24mm.

Scott,
I'm loving your landscape phase. Great composition with the near and distant points of interest connected by the silky stream.
Side note: No bridges here yet. I'll keep you posted.

Would have loved to see the same shot taken with a slightly faster shutter speed. The water is beginning to look too much like milk there. Great shot nevertheless!

Thanks. I may be "stuck" in it for a while yet. I have no urge to go birding lately, and all I want to do is hit the mountains.
Side note: No bridges here yet. I'll keep you posted.
I'm looking forward to them! I may even have to start looking for cool bridges around here...
Thanks for the comments folks!

maybe the angels are crying
it's beautiful Scottes
I love how the eye is drawn to what is beyond, up at the top
a glimpse of the green trees and the moss on those wonderful boulders ....along the way
I took a few shots of the river and very small falls around the lakes .
it's so beautiful to be in these places.....
and also to try and capture them with a camera
lovely shot
