Well, I have enjoyed all the water drops, so I decided to try some myself.

I quickly learned that a ring flash on the camera doesn't work. I held the ring in various areas while shooting but kept getting bad reflections on the backround. I ended up doing a lot of PP to kill the reflections, hence the "condition" of the backrounds. I have soooo much to learn about using flash...

I went to a craft store and bought a pack multi colored of cling vinyl sheets and placed them across the back of my bathroom sink and hand timed drops coming from the faucet:

Black vinyl backround:

Next two used blue vinyl for blue water:

Guess I'll keep trying and experimenting!

Good series- esp like #1. Not sure how long the connecting cable is but would it be possible to take the ringflash off the lens and place it side on to the subject perhaps with a plastic diffusion dome over it ?

Thought about it. I'll have to make something. The MR-14EX ringflash has a coiled cord that is permanently attached between the head and the "brain" that attaches to the hotshoe. I was able to hold it in any position within about 12-14" of the brain. I also think I should try something else for a backround, the vinyl was much too shiny.
