I went to Yosemite over the weekend just to take this shot. The full moon produces a moonbow or lunar rainbow the few days surrounding the full moon. I know I wasnt the only one up there taking this shot (probably close to 300 others) so I just was curious of other from potn were up there for the shot also, if so It would be nice to see what others got. Here is mine

I don't know what to say, I just love this picture. What time of night was this taken?

This was shot at 9:42 PM. I used my 40D and 17-40L lens. 20 second exposure, iso 1600, f/4.0 @ 17mm. I was impresses with the noise at 1600 on the 40D. I did have to use a bit of the noise reduction in Lighroom but it wasnt bad. Thanks for the compliments.

Beautiful, that's the first time I've heard of this occuring. Did you see it prior to shooting or did it only come up after that 20 sec exp?

It is difficult to see with the naked eye, but from what I read, some peoples eyes are more sensitive and can see it better than others. I saw a very subtle white band in the shape of the rainbow but not the colors.

i was shooting from the sentinel bridge bus stop getting some decent shots...however no rainbow but I'm not too bummed about it. I just accepted a job there after I graduate and hope to get one from all the cool spots!

I saw plenty of lights on the upper fall trail and a few of us were hoping everyone got down safe. Maybe if I could camp there, I'd go up there but no thanks for now.

Some guy was also laughing that everyone at the lower fall was getting wet, but I wanted to get there too...my second night was from the same spot but it was after it snowed so I got two fairly different shots in two nights...

For anyone interested, in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky, there is a waterfalls called Cumberland Falls. State Route 90, West of I-75 in the very South East corner of the state. Lat/Lon of N36.84082, W084.342792. This has the exact same phenomenon. Only on certain days of the month, there is a moon rainbow over the mist from the falls. If you call them, they can tell you exactly which days there will be this lunar rainbow . . .
