Hey, Its back to Lyrics for the post title! Bonus points for song and singer! Granted, it is not exactly the desert, but it is the best I could find on short notice. AND I love the song.
I got a nasty root canal done yesterday so I had the day home from work. I was too bushed to go shooting, to I had time to PS some shots "I've been meaning to get to." I used Fred Miranda's B&W Workflow Pro. Final and orignal posted here. I used a combination of Red Filter (sky) and Yellow Filter (ground) to get this result. Please Critique.

Both are nice, but the B & W is dynamite. Great work. Speaking of which, if you were able to work on this, why not your job?

Would YOU want to be injected with a radioactive pharmaceutical by a guy who is sluring his words and drooling out of the right side of his mouth?

It is a Plug-In BUT, it only works with PhotoShop - NOT with Elements, because it uses Channels. It is a good piece though. www.fredmiranda.com

The black and white one is really nice.
I like how the road meets that high contrast cloudless patch.
As for the color one..... focus your energies on the black and white one. :)

Turn the sky an orange or blood red. That would be really cool.

The composition looks good to me, however I have to say the sky looks a bit over cooked compare to the foreground in the B&W, the reverse in the colour.
On the plus side I do like the leading line and also the overall composition.
Sorry to be so negative Radtech.

Personally I like the high contrast landscapes in B&W. And I think I remember some other guy that had some landscapes a bit on the contrasty side.........I think his initials were AA

The B&W job turned an ordinary photo into something really good.

Bonus points to JCK!
Do I get a half point for naming Bruce Springsteen?
The second pic does look quite ordinary but you've done a fantastic job with the filters and turned it into a really great shot!
Quite inspirational - I think I'm gonna go look through some of my 'ordinary shots' now

Rad - I really like the b/w....forces me to look at the landscape and how low and extraodinary the cloud/sky seem in country like that...
