The third of three sister ships in the Freedom class is stopping by Oslo harbour on it's way from the shipyard in Finland to Southampton in the UK.
At 160000 gross tonnage the three ships are the larges passenger/cruise vessels ever built. The new even bigger Genesis class is already in the pipeline.

That's a great shot especially with the 3-master in front for comparison. I wonder how much water she draws? It looks like a floating city.

Floating germ farm is more like it...
It makes me wonder how the US Navy can deploy an aircraft carrier with 6000+ personnel on board for months at sea with no problems and ships like these are continually coming into port with half the passengers sick from some virus or bacteria.
What's that ship in the foreground? That's the one I'd like to go to sea on...

Good shot. I wonder how many people get lost on them.

Great shot. But man, thats just gross when you think about it. Too many strangers in a small place. Think off all the bugs some of these people are carrying with them. TB, MRSA, C-diff, Hepp, etc.

My wife and I have been regular cruisers for many years now and have never been on a ship where half of the passengers return home sick. That is really something that rarely happens. For every ship that that happens on, hundreds return to their homeport with no problems.

Thanks all.

I'm sorry but I don't have any details on that ship. But knowing what ususally docks around there I'm quite sure it's an event boat that businesses can hire for the evening for kickoffs and such, eating and drinking while cruising around in the Oslo fjord. Our company have done it several times but not with that particular one.

Probably because 95% of them are young, strong, healthy and in the best shape they're likely to ever be in their lives.
That coupled with the fact that the Navy doesn't like to talk about the number of "Clap" cases treated after liberty calls... ;)

Funny i was just on a Carnival boat. left my wife at a table (forward/Sb side) to read a book. all i did was run to the room (aft/port) to grab the camera and it took me an hour to find her. Man i felt stupid.
Great shot. I think one of the sister ships may have been in Nassau on the 11th of April. I know it was a HUGE boat, maybe me embarssed to get on our little one! (Carnival Imagination)

I would have thought most people want to go on a cruise to get away from the city. Guess not.
Thanks for sharing this incredible monster of a ship.
