Are there any digital cameras that I can use my lens from my AE1 on? I would prefer not to have to buy more lens if I can avoid it.
Thanks

There are no digital cameras that use the Canon FD lenses. You can buy an adapter (less than $100) that will make the lenses fit EOS bodies, but they will be strictly manual, and will not focus to infinity.
There is an adpater that Canon made many years ago that will allow you to use the big FD telephotos with an EOS body, but only certain ones. I think it will only work with L lenses, 200mm and longer. Also, to make the lenses focus to infinity, the adapter actually has to be a teleconverter with a magnification of 1.26X.
See this (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/canon/fdresources/fdlenses/fdeos.htm) (Note: the photo of the adapter is the wrong one)
and this. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30059&item=3855071 982&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) (This is the actual Canon adapter)
I'm playing around with a 600mm f/4.5L FD mount lens, and I've found one of the FD-EOS converters through eBay. I hope to have some results to report by the end of next week.

The transition costs are what held me back from moving from my FD-series Canons to the Eos line too. Eventually, I realized I was using my digital P&S almost exclusively, so I bit the bullet and made the move. It's worth it. A good DSLR, however, costs so much more than its equivalent film SLR that buying replacement lenses of similar quality is relatively insignificant. Unless you're talking about the Canon 500 FD, in which case the high-priced adapter Belmondo mentioned would be a good deal. But with the crop factor of a Digital Rebel or 20D, a 300 mm lens will have the same angle of coverage as a 500 mm lens on 35 mm.
