Doesn't matter...
If fuel prices keep going the way they're going we're going to see more and more airshows being cancelled. There has already been one cancelled here because the organizers couldn't afford the fuel costs for all the performers. The large military shows might hang around for a while longer because the military budgets for them as a recruiting/PR tool, but the privately operated smaller shows are going to start disappearing.
As far as Shockley is concerned, I know the kids love it but I think it's an apalling waste of fuel that could be better utilized by the flying performers, especially those flying the older jets like the F-86 and Migs.

It all boils down to the mighty dollar if they are going to pay him to drive his truck then I am sure he will do it. There is big money made and spent on Airshows .The usual reason for shows canceling is based on getting a jet team or not from my observances. With out the Thunderbirds or the Blues or the Snow birds or the Red Arrows attendance will be significantly lower than it would be if they were there Where I live here in Illinois we have 7 Airshows in a 150 mile radius. As long as people keep going to them they will keep having them in my opinion.

The airshow that was cancelled here had nothing to do with one of the military jet teams not appearing. They've never appeared at this show. It was cancelled because the organizers felt the fuel costs would outweigh the income made from the show. The show was sponsored by the local chapter of the Commemorative Air Force and was a warbird show.

Great series.

Thanks Dave you are probably right the lighting that day was poor to say the least and a haze was present thats probably what causes that image to look somewhat flat.

Thank you Mike,I know it , when the sun came out and the haze mixed with smoke and backlit aircraft makes for a tough day as far a photography goes . But was a great way to kick off my 2008 airshow season

You know I have thought that also , but it does its high speed runs far away from the crowd so there would be no danger to onlookers.
Thank you for the kind words.:)
