Just got my first L glass today - a second hand 300/4 L non IS. My wife's first words were "did you know it was going to be THAT colour?"

Anyway, back to my request. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good carrying case for this lense (I will be using it with a 300D/Drebel). I have seen the lens for sale with a hard Canon case on ebay.

I already have the canon gadget bag for my 300D with 18-55.
thanks for looking in.

You might want to consider one of these Lowepro lens cases... I can't recomend a specific one because I don't know the exact dimensions of your lens, but a quick session with the tape measure and then a read of the site specs should sort that out for you.

(The "lens case 4" does mention 300mm f/4 but a quick measure up won't hurt)

thanks Cadwell, see them for £18 and they are large enough for the 300

I just picked up a Lowepro case. I am very happy with it. It is well padded and I think will be ideal for me on tirips. Just FYI, it is a backpack style case with room for a notebook computer. It is a bit pricey (I paid about $140) but looks to be worth every penny.

Best,

I have the 300 f/4 IS version, which is a wee bit longer than the non-IS (about 7mm). I also have the 3 and the 4 size cases. The 3 case is just a tad short without the tripod mount; I can just zip it closed. The non-IS might fit ok. The 4 size fits just fine with the tripod ring.

I suggest you try both if possible.

I would go Lowepro Toploader 75 AW. I use it with my 70-200 2.8 so not sure how the 300 compares. I strap 2 other lens cases to toploader so it is pretty modular.
