do they eat pollen? i thought flys and succh...but pollen?

good series of this strange looking mini beast. The pollen has surely just become attached.

I find myself absolutely mezmerized by #2. All are incredible but that one really stands out in my eye.

Excellent series JK- think you are right- your best yet :)

I have heard that spiders will eat pollen if their hunting is not going well. A good high protein food source plus a good source of carotenes that may be useful for these colour matching crab spiders. Maybe that's how they do the colour matching ?

Thanks MJ.. not sure what you mean, like facing the spider...?(maybe next time...the mug shot last one was a bit OOF, but i like it anyways.) that would have been cool..but i was really happy with the one shot, the crop was my favorite.

Those are stunning!!!


The only crab spider I have everseen was maye 3mm big, are they all that small? Or did I just find a baby?

Thanks a lot. most i have seen are a few mm's 3-4 or so. . . from what i recall, but i have not seen many lately.

i wouldn't say the best..your one is plane,,the one i have in my garden has yellow band around its eyes..lovey spider tho.and great pics.

edit-sorry..i thought u ment its the best crab spider..but yer your right about the images..the best ones yet:)

I like the composure of the first shot, except it would have been much much better with a focus stack!

Good job though!
