Hi All,
I am looking for some recommendations on a couple (do I need two? or should I swap?) of ball heads. One for my 3221 bogen tripod and one for a monopod. Obviously the 10D with grip and lens is pretty heavy. I would expect to eventually have much heavier glass...some day...I can dream :) Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If you don't have super heavy telephoto prime glasses to go on top of the head, then a 486RC2 ball head would be plenty.
243RC2 for monopod, however, I've only used monopod with 300mm and above, so there is no need to use head for that purpose

I have just got my tripod setup. I ended up buying the Gitzo 1325 tripod and put a Kirk ( www.kirkphoto.com ) BH-1 ball head and a Wimberley sidekick. http://65.36.138.136/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SK-100&Category_Code=
This will withstand just about anything that you would want to throw at it as far as heavy lenses.

I used to use a Manfrotto 488RC2 with my 10D and Sigma 120-300mm on my Manfrotto 681B monopod. I haven't seen it in a while, it's probably still on my tripod (which rarely sees the light of day). I found I didn't much like using a head on my monopod, but it did work well.

I have the 488 RC 2 ball head on my 055 Pro B (which is the non-USA type number for the 3021 tripod).
I had originally ordered the 486 RC 2, which is one step smaller than the 488 RC 2, but I'm glad I got the 488 (the shop didn't have the 486).
I later saw the 486 and noticed that it lacks something that the 488 has: a scale going from 0 to 360 degrees at the base of the head.
You can see an overview of the Manfrotto / Bogen ball heads on their website: http://www.manfrotto.com/product/itemlist.php3?manufid=1&sectionid=8

...at Only $120.00 I am convinced it is one of the best deals in a Ballhead around. It has all the bells and whistles of heads costing 2.5X as much.

Yes.. It will work fine,. mine is on a bogen/manfrotto 3001 (the 3021 baby brither)
But it does not have it's own built in Quick release system FYI...
Those too can be purchased seperately of it interests you.
