Found an elsuive 20D today in stock at my local Jacobs (Leeds, UK). Went wandering off for lunch and spotted it in the window. They wouldn't price match, but when I offered to also buy a 50mm 1.8 and Sigma 17-35 EX they dropped £100 off the price.

Possibly the most expensive sandwich I've ever bought!

Thanks for all the advice recently about whether to upgrade to 20D or 1DSMKII, also seems most UK Sigmas don't work on Mark 2 EOS digitals.

Cheers
Chris

Would you like to back up that little statement with some facts? My Sigma works just fine on my MarkII EOS digital.

Was out shooting with a friend on Friday with a 1DMKII and he's chopping his Sigma EXs as AF did not work, I tried my 300 2.8 the camera claimed to have locked focus, but was blatantly out.

And from that you extrapolate to your original statement? Perhaps his MarkII is defective... I am delighted to say that AF is bang on with my Sigma EX and my MarkII.

Before parting with a number of Sigma lenses, I tested the 50-500, 70-200, 24-70 and 15-30 on the MK-II and all worked perfectly OK. May I respectfully suggest your friend is telling tall ones. I may shoot 100% Canon lenses, but I can vouch from a technical point-of-view there is nothing wrong with any of the recent (post 2000) EX models.

my 28mm ex was way off with focus on the 20D

Possibly not "tall ones", perhaps more of a defective camera?

Given the old Sigma lens issues with Canon digi a while ago I didn't doubt him.

Cheers for clearing that up.

Chris

Well let me be the first to say, congratulations on your new toy! You'll enjoy the 20D, I know I love mine.
