its because there is no background!

The grass just fades off into nothing, makes it look like a staged studio shot 8)

I think that's a question only you can truly answer... :D

Works for me. I think if you knocked it down about 1/2 a stop it would be even better - the grass/hay looks overexposed. But it's got a balance between the tree and hay, balanced with the white.

Yeah, it almost looks infaredish.

Thanks for the responses, I actually know why I like this shot, and the answer is, I conceived it before I shot it, and it came out just as I thought it. That sense of control is pleasing. I don't always feel that way. And if you can see, rule of thirds is evident vertically and horizontally, the sky was cloudy and overcast, so I decided to get rid of it, and I also wanted to bring out the features of the trunk of tree.

because it's in Hawaii? :D

but seriously, it is a beautiful shot, the blown out BG doesn't seem wrong at all for this shot.

nice one!

Because it tickles the imagination.

I look at it and wonder what is supposed to be there.

It is a nice shot, I like it. :)

OK, I'll tell you why I didn't want to show the background originally, you see, in these wintery days, this is probably the last thing you want to see, and I didn't have the heart to show it to you.... but I guess I'm nobody to disguise the true beauty of nature, and this following shot was properly exposed..... enjoy...

Great shot!
It has a creepy sort of cold, mysterious open moors type of feel to it. Almost like there's a story there...
Very artistic
