From this morning with my 100mm Canon. I realized I can't get any closer than that. I wanted to get closer to see their eyes better. I don't want too much details or too close to see everything but just a nice and closer than that. Can I add an extension tube to get closer to bugs/insects? What tube do you suggest? Here are 2 examples? The fly image is a little too far.

Hi assuming you are talking about 100mm F2.8 macro lens. You could obviously get a lot closer than the lovely BIF shot in #2. You need to use manual focus if you aren't already and preset the lens to minumum focus and the focus by moving the camera.
You are correct- a set of Kenko ext tubes will allow you to get to a max magnification of 2:1 but along with that comes lower light levels and shallower DOF.

Yes you are right I used 100 2.8 macro. I was farther than I could from the bee because it moved around too fast. I couldn't find it in my viewfinder so I looked around. I saw it then I shot fast. It's hard to capture anything that flies around in my viewfinder!
