Is this site worth the money to learn from the tutorials? Do anyone here use it?

It's the best one out there, both quantity and quality.
They are lacking photography courses.
Spend and hour or so going through the free lessons at the beginning of each class to get a "feel" for everything.

Considering the number of free tuts out there & the Stickys here, I'm wondering why you don't take advantage of them?

I watched the Chris Orwig basic PS course and it was and excellent and complete introduction to the software.

The all-you-can-watch plan is well worth it. KelbyTraing.com does have several photography classes, they are aimed more at pros. KelbyTraining is a little thin but will catch up shortly. There are a couple I'm waiting to see.
The new kid on the block, xTrain.com, is pretty good and have a more photography and designer slant. They have lowered the price to be in line with Scott Kelby's site. If you do hit xTrain, be careful of the Rick Sammon classes. He likes to mention his trip to Africa and his top tips alot. In fact, all his tip are his #1 tip! He went to Africa too.

this is exactly what i was looking for. i'm going through the basic course for CS3 presented by Deke (i forget his last name at the moment) at the moment and it is very good. Deke goes into detail and explains many of the (sometimes hidden) functions of photoshop that i never knew. He also explains the theories behind the tools and shows you how they work.
so far, i'm very glad that i signed up.

Basically you can find most of what's on Lynda.com free on the web, but you have to look for it and you will run into a lot of duds before you find the best tutorials.
I used lynda.com to jump start learning illustrator and after I felt comfortable, I stopped subscribing. If I wanted to learn a new program the right way, I'd do it again, but eventually move on to the freebies to fine tune skills or seek alternative techniques.

I use Lynda.com on a month by month basis depending on when I anticipate having free time.
You can turn most of them on/off like a switch and I do it.

I have used Lynda.com for quite a few things, but mostly Photoshop. While you can find free tutorials which cover the pretty much all same stuff, at least for Photoshop, you won't find it all in one place, nicely organized, and of the same quality. Some free tutorials are great some are terrible, so you might be learning something the long way, or worse, bad technique and habits. And it defiantly saves hours of searching for tutorials.

my main beef with most of the free tutorials is that they are merely "click this..., set this setting to this value, blend this layer, etc etc". they dont explain how the tool actually performs its function and why you would use that particular tool.
the lynda.com tutorials go into very good detail on the functions and tools of photoshop and that's an area that i was always very weak in no matter how many books i tried to read on the subject.

I have been using it to learn Lightroom, which prior to this I was only using $5 worth of the whole software package. I do find the tuts very informative and nicely presented.

+1 for Lynda.. She's been around for a long time and knows what she is doing. She has top notch people she collaborates with and her wealth of knowledge is among the best. She has been at this since the beginning with her web work, DreamWeaver, PhotoShop and Illustrator.. then on to some of the newer software packages.
