Hello

i'm unable to format my Extreme III San Disk card 4 GB. Can anyone offer any suggestions? See link below for how this issue arose in first place.

I've tried
- using the recovery disk to format it
- using the command prompt "format e:"
- using "My computer" in windows xp, right clicking on drive to format

Each time it says it is unable to format. Any advice on this ? I'm sure this card can work if i can reformat it. The card currently holds 100 good pictures and 200 other pictures - some were corrupted (which i subsequently recovered, etc)

thanks for any help !

Have you tried to format it in the camera ?

yes - i tried formatting in the camera and get an error message:

Err99 - shooting is not possible - turn power switch on/off or reinstall the battery

You may have an actually dead card; call or otherwise contact SanDisk customer support. The Extreme IIIs have a lifetime warranty. Better to get a new one than to take a chance on this one.

Thanks all - yes - i called Sandisk and they are sending out a new one through their RMA process thankfully. Not sure what the problem was with the card - with the customer service rep their we tried 5 different ways to format it, but nothing worked

Thanks for reminding me of that lifetime warranty !!!

That's why so many of us swear by SanDisk. They'll do whatever's needed to get things working.
