Really like that first one! A lot.
Bit of a shame the sky is blown white in the bg. Looks like natural light? The caterpillar and greenery are well exposed. I'd use flash, expose for the sky and let the E-TTL fill flash take care of the subject. You'll get nice blue skies and backgrounds like Dalantech displayed here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=457858) and this recent shot of mine:

Thanks for the tip and yes it was natural light,I didn't own a good flash at the time i took the pic's but now i do so i will take your advise.
