Want to wish for a remote for Xmas, but what's really the difference between the RC-1 and RC-5? Just curious.

I'm bumping this one because I'm probably getting one of the remotes for my 300D next week.

Hm, seems like the main difference is the 2 sec delay feature on the RC-1. I guess I should get that one. It's about $14 more expensive than the RC-5 over here, but I can deal with that.

And you can also attach the RC-1 to the camera neck starp if you're using the original strap or replace it with one that has the same size webbing strap that goes through the camera strap hoop. It'll always be accessible to you when you need it and you'll never have to worry about misplacing the RC-1 since you just snap it back onto its holder on the neck strap when you're done with it. And it's smaller, too, than the RC-5.

I can highly recommend the RC-1, its great! I bought it off ebay (new) for about £15 and I'm sure the seller did international postage so keep your eye out for a bargain.

Hi Claire,
I just bought the rc-1 off ebay (still in the mail). As mentioned, it has a little more control of the shutter and can keep it open indefinitely in the "bulb" mode (I don't think the rc-5 can do that).

Got the RC1 and loved it. What I like about the RC1 :
1. Small and compact.
2. Useful for long exposure ( since the 300D timer is 10 sec).
3. Useful for macros.
4. Got 2 mode, press the remote button and the camera takes the shot or select the 2 sec delay mode.
