I always feel very self concious taking candid photos on the street, the result is, I rarely do it!

Some nice captures above, the area around Lake Garda is full of photo opportunities. I was there a couple of years ago with a P&S and still came back with some nice results.

I'm biased... :D but try candids on Trieste waterfront at sunset time...

Thanks for sharing! I especially like the one with the girl and her father -- even without the faces you can see what is happening. And the last one-- with the pole dividing it makes for an interesting juxtaposition.

I always feel very self concious taking candid photos on the street, the result is, I rarely do it!

Me too, though at times when I feel sufficiently anonymous I have taken a few though. Also my 'trick' is to use an angle finder.

I am not sure whether it hides the fact I am shooting someone from them, but it makes me feel that way. That as I am not looking directly through the camera no one can tell what I am looking at. Which even if a delusion has the benefit of making me feel a little more confident, though only a little.

There are so many threads on POTN it is impossible to see them all. I think it is fine to repeat the images if another thread is appropriate; do post them here as well if you want.

Crikey, I gave taken more than I realized as I have others not worth posting too.

These are all quite good! The weakest street photo is the woman at the bus stop though that may be the technically best portrait -- it doesn't show emotion or environment. The others are excellent -- lots of action and faces.
