Not sure if this is the right topic to post this under but...last night I shot a show with my 30D. I didn't use any flash at all while shooting the show. After the show I went to take a photo of my friend with the artist so I popped open the on camera flash, when I hit the fire button the flash literally did that...fired...smoke came out, saw a spark, and it smelled horrible. Has this happened to anyone before?
I'm hoping it's something that can be repaired...but I'm wondering if it's safe to use the camera (without flash) before I get it repaired...
I was able to pop the flash up today (I couldn't last night) but as soon as I pop it up there's an error message.
Would love to hear your insight or past experience with this. Since 99 percent of what I do is concert photography I have used the on camera flash very rarely.
