I've got a 1G Sandisk Ultra II card and for the 3rd time I've gotten a corrupt file. The card goes into a Lexar card reader, and when I copied my files over the program hit this file and basically locked up. I could not close the program, nor the DOS window it was running in. I couldn't eject the card since it was in use, and I can't even shutdown or restart. To get my system back I have to hit the reboot button on the computer, which isn't a good thing at all.

I'm not sure if this is a permanently corrupt sector of the card, but I doubt it since it has worked in between the times I had the problems. I'm just not sure what it is, or if anything can be done about it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not yet ready to scream ugly things about the Sandisk, but I've never had an issue like this with any of my Lexar cards in a year, yet it's happened 3 times on this Sandisk in 2 months. It's pretty annoying though.

DOS window? What are you using to copy files that uses DOS? Anyway, format the card using your PC and maybe even try a scandisk on it.

It's a Perl script that I wrote, so it's basically calling the system FileCopy function.

OK, so I've been working on PCs for years, and why didn't I think about running a scandisk... Doh!

Sometimes we experienced folk miss the obvious.
