Hi guys, looking to try these out--- wondering what the differences are between the different versions are.

16 channel
4 channel
4 channel v2s

I'm assuming there is a 'version 1' of the 4 channel, hence the v2s. Unless, of course the 16 channel was the first gen. I understand that the v2s were sort of designed to work better with Canon flashes....

I don't own any Canon flashes, and don't foresee them in the future-- am I better off with the 16 channel Cactus? Or is the 4 channel v2s just better new technology regardless.

Thank you for helping me sort this mess. (flashes are Sigma 530 Super and Sunpak 383 btw)

There's a V1 and V2 - they're not compatible with each other, either. They're pretty similar otherwise - I've had both and didn't notice any difference in power or reliability.

I've had no issues using the V2s with my 580EX I and 580EX II. Don't know if the 16-channel offers you much more in practicality.

There are older 1, 2 and 4 channel versions of the triggers, but most of the eBay sellers now carry the 16 channel version and the Catus V2. The differenc is that the V2 has the hotshoe type receiver, nice for speedlights that don't require additional cords; and the 16 channels version comes with a 1/8 - 1/4 plug. Both also a PC port on the side of the receiver.
