Hi,
In the span of about 24 hours I put together a series on the Good Friday & Holy Saturday (fire) ceremonies.
Here is a very small part of the series, the rest can be seen here (http://www.awayoflight.com/GMMorris/Slideshows/) under "Holy Saturday 2008".

Super impressive stuff here! I like em all, but I love 4. You did a great job on the exposure, looks tricky too!

Very nice work...post processing work was perfect in conveying the theme and mood.

actually there was very little post processing, thats the beauty of the 5D (and correct exposure ;) ).
Thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated.

At the Holy Sepulchre church & the Via Dolorosa, in Jerusalem.

The 17-40 vignettes quite a bit on the 5D's full frame. That said, I think that it was pronounced more than usual because I pushed the contrast a bit. I don't usually get so much vignetting. Could also be related to the fact that I underexposed quite a bit to get better colors.

I just wish you posted em a bit bigger! 800-1000 pix would be nice! I looked on your flickr and it doesn't do em justice either!
I missed the click-thru slideshow at first - just watched it... WOW! The whole take is amazing, and the song is perfect too! You ought to throw down some exposure tips, as you've nailed some super-hard stuff! I'd be very interested to hear what was going thru your head.
Also, do you have plans for your images? Publication? They are DEFINITELY publication quality, hit up some magazines and I bet you'll get takers.

Well, as much as I'd love to help other- I don't realy know :)
It was sort of an instinct based on experience.
I metered from the highlights, most of the time, in order to create a very strong contrast.
I use only Manual exposure, because I don't want the camera choosing my exposure for me (Av & Tv, are NOT Manual).
The truth is I took a risk with these exposures, because I was shooting at a very high ISO, and if I were even slightly off on the exposure- any PP would cause extreme noise.
I wish I could think of some real tips... none comming to me right now.
Just practice practice practice & you will figure it out.
Do you have any idea how many bad photographs I have taken over the last two years to reach this point? (I've only been photoghraphing realy for about 10 months. Before that I just played around with my 350D for a year.).
As for pablication - first of all, thanks for the complement. :) Second, this event is yearly, and there are many good photos from it already baught by the magazines, so there isn't much interest.
But these will help build up my portfolio for when I start working (I am currently employed in another field of work, and I am bound by contract for another couple of years. So when I complete this job, I'll be off to work in photography.), plus I'm putting together a book on my take on religion in Israel, so hopefuly they will be published in that.
(I'm a firm believer that a photographs place is in a quality book. Newspapers & magazines get thrown away, int the web things are lost. But books last. A wall is also a good place, but there is only so much wall space ;) ).
