Again, "rapid fire" has no effect on getting the ball in frame...

Don't make me go Newtonian on ya...

i would stick vertically, or zoom out if your doing horizontal.
Also try not to cut off limbs on the kid... example (picture 2nd last) you cut off his Leg, and abit of the ball.
If your going to have the catchers glove in it, put all the catcher in it, all or nothing...

Thanks for the tips, I will remember them. The original does have his whole leg in the pic, but I did cut off half of the ball. I can recrop that one. I do have whole bodies in the others where I can recrop and make them vertical.

what mode are you shooting in? and whats your ISO, seeing how its a bright day you should be able to freeze that ball.., Also what is the original picture like? are you Zooming in before taking the shot as much as you can? becuase the more you do this the more you retain your quality.

I think you did a good job on these. Your white balance looks a little off on #'s 4, 5 & 8...warmer than the rest. Try not to zoom in too far so that you can crop down without cutting off limbs like mentioned before.

Regarding the ISO, I shoot 100 when I do baseball, however I disagree about freezing the ball. You want to show motion in the shots and the ball should appear to be moving in the frame. Take a look HERE (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gallery/index.jsp) at the MLB photo gallery and you'll see plenty of batter shots with the ball motion blurred. Try to emulate these shots when you go out next time to a game. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

I believe ISO on all of them was 200. I shot in AI Servo. I used AV mode for these shots.

Thank you.... they were shot different days. I believe I used auto white balance. I tried custom wb but all of my shots that day turned out blue, so I don't know what I did wrong. When I set custom WB inside I get great results.

ya but you have to set your custom white balance - how i do that on the fly is to take a solid white item and take a shot of it, set it as your custom white balance and then your pcitures won't be blue. The reason for why it works good indoors is that its already setup. If you can shoot in raw. Theres sooo many better things when you shoot in raw. Mind you it takes up more memory.

I used a grey card when I tried the custom white balance outside. I will try it again next time. I haven't tried raw for sports shots yet.

ya it works quite well i find for sports, just have alot of memory with ya, it will allow you to play with alot more white balance controls, i use lightroom for it and its a fantastic program.
