I'm looking for a high-end inkjet printer and am leaning towards either the Canon Pixma IP8500 or the Epson R800. From what I've read, both are excellent. The Canon is speedy and easy to use but there may be some red color cast issues. The Epson's output may be better and the prints more long-lasting (pigment rather than dye). I'm a little concerned about color rendition issues with the Canon. Does anyone have any experience with these two printers, or have other suggestions?

I use the Epson 2200 and the Epson ICC profiles. I am very happy with the output. Put it together with QIMAGE and I get stunning 11x14's.

Actually both are good printers. But the R800 is the only current printer that can do glossy the way it should be done. It has a separate gloss optimizer that produces fantastic vibrant pictures.
Of course, you are limited to 8x19s. Epson has released in Japan a new 13x19 printer with this same technology. When it will reach here is just a guess.
But if want great glossy, go for the Epson R800.
Good luck,

Meant 8x10 NOT 8x19. Sorry

Here's a silly question. Once a print is behind glass, is there a noticeable difference between one printed on glossy vs. matte paper?
