Which is the best general (i.e. non-Canon etc.) digital photography forum besides this one?
Kevin.

I don't know about others, but for me this forum is the best source. You may not get the highest technical answer (though somebody like Jon or Scottes or --Bob Gross-- are well capable of that) but you will get a straight and meaningful answer here w/o much noise.

I thought sure I was always ---Bob Gross---.

Bob, without the hint of an elitist attitude you sometimes exhibit, you could be the king of the contributors in this forum. Sorry

I *try* to explain it without getting *too* technical. Honestly, I do.

We all fall back to what we are comfortable with. Let me give an example. Where I work, I'm a senior. When I try to explain things to new employees I notice I speak in my language, as if I assume he/she knows what I know. Then I realize, no they don't! so I take a step (if not more) back, and try to simplify things for them.

I think it's very hard to explain a complex thing in a simple way. It takes talent to do so.

Bob has a dry sense of humor - that's why we like him.

Fred Miranda's site is pretty decent. I spend a little time there as well as here.

Bob and sense of humor in the same sentence? Was thinking more like "dry" alone.

Bob, if you are reading this I don't mean anything bad by it. Sir, I have a high respect for you and the effort you put here to answer confused people (like me). Thank you Bob, no ill things meant.

If you don't get Bob's humor you're missing out on a lot! The man is hilarious.

Some time ago, someone did a 'Best of Bob Gross' thread. It was hilarious. He has remarkable thrift of language; he doesn't waste many words.

If I knew what he looked like, I'd have his picture on my wall.

Now that is disturbing. Belmondo, man you need to stay out of the hot desert sun.

Deviant Art is a great site. It has a lot of younger people on many different mediums posting from anime to digital photo to painting, but well worth the look!

dpreview is good for information about cameras, but the forums are... HORRIBLE!! The forums seem to be full of teenagers spreading all kinds of nonsense rumours. Don't take the dpreview forums too seriously.

Another good site is http://www.photo.net although the forum software is very primitive and people get unfriendly with each other much more quickly than here on photography-on-the.net.
