Everytime I try burning some of the movies I've captured in movie mode on my A85 camera. I can view them just fine, but when I use Nero 6 to burn them to VCD they appear shaky and hard to view. is there anything I could use to correct this or is there another burning software recommened to burned movies created using my A85 camera?

When you say they look all right, is this on the screen for your camera, or on a computer?
If I'm reading the specs right, your camera only does 10 frames/sec. at 640 x 480 resolution. On the camera's screen you wouldn't notice much, but on a larger screen, this would be very jerky. Even the lower resolutions are still captured at 15 fps, which is still noticeably slower than normal TV or movie frame rates. So I think you're just at the limits of the equipment.

Try making a SVCDs, they will look much better on a TV.

The movies can be viewed with Windows media player just fine on the computer. After burning them using Nero6. The movies are almost unviewable. I've tried making VCD and SVCD with the same results. Should I drop my resolution rate to 320 to burn them successfully? HELP!

Slow moving objects should look ok with SVCD which is 480x480. Fast moving objects will be very jerky. Try shooting a 'talking head' and see how that looks on TV for a test. Make sure you choose 640 mode when shooting. If it is still bad, then it may be that Nero is not doing a good job of converting Canon MjPEG to MPEG2. You can try the Demo program at MemoriesOnTv.com and see if it does any better job.
It's too bad Canon made a marketing decision to cripple the video in their new lines of cameras to 10FPS.
