Wow what a machine. Do a lot of airline pics and took some 13x19 around tonight and sold out. It is a ausome looking print, gotta get busy.
Looking hard to monitor my costs and seems like itsupplies.com is the cheapest, and not hard to hit the 75$ for free shipping. The ink cart for under 10$ is a real plus. The big print does use ink. I have been using the Photo Paper Pro and very pleased with the results. Would the Glossy Photo Paper be much of a downgrade? Any other paper recomendations?
Anyone find larger packs than the 10 in the Pro to save a few $ ?
thanks all, cheers

I am not sure if they fixed the ink or the paper, but Canon Ink and Canon paper combined tended to fade rapidly in certain environments (like noticeable within 6 weeks). Which is why I don't use Canon paper any more, although I still use Canon ink.

Third party ink has mixed results, but usually reported as lower longevity then Canon ink.

Some recommended papers for longevity (without going overboard on price) are
- Kodak Ultima (although some people report problems, but I have had none)
- Ilford
- even Epson paper seems to work better then Canon paper with Canon ink.
If using Canon paper, I highly recommend coating the print with an art spray for inkjets.

I recommend if you can afford the time and money.

make a set of three 4x6 prints (with lots of colors) for each combination of ink and paper you may want to use. Leave one print indoors in little to no light and preferably sealed, leave second print near a floresecent light and place the third in direct sunlight. Check weekly. If you don't notice any fading from any of the combination within 12 weeks they are probably good to go.

If you don't care how long the prints last then just buy the cheapest ink/paper you can find.

I will be in big trouble if the canon paper is as poor as you indicate....

thanks for the input

Just wondering if you have calculated an average price per print, say for 8x10's?
