Last week I shot pics of an adult Bald Eagle with a juvenile eagle 15 feet to its right---when I shot these I took pics of the adult---then the juvenile----not realizing they could have been in one frame:(
I tried to merge the two---with limited success, then I thought this is easy----I went back and stood in the same place and shot just the rocks from the same spot/angle
Now the problem---when I merge these CS3 always removes the adult Bald Eagle----any clue why?
I am very new to using CS3.
Thanks
Dan

Are you using layers and layer masks ? What do you mean by merge? And yes, please post up the photos so we can give you some help :)

wow it worked!!!! (1st time for me)
You can see the young eagle to the right top corner of the one with the adult in it.
I was using "file"---"automate"---"photomerge" (is that the answer your looking for---cause I am not sure about the layers part)

Lots of differences in the Rocks light and contrast and the tide lever, but here is a down and dirty combination of the 3 photos. It involves layers and maksing the layers... This could use about 30 more minutes of work, but I'm on a laptop without a mouse.. Yikes.
You can see a lot of "glow" or "halo" around the birds due to the light and my not masking everything properly due to no mouse or pen, but this should give you a very rough idea....

ok---where should I go to "learn" or at least get a CS3 for dummies type quick course.
and "Thank You" also

There is no quick course for PS.. I've been working it since PS5 and I'm no expert at it.. Google for working in layers, go to Lynda.com and use some of the free tutorials or perhaps sign up.. I like Martin Evenings books as his graphic explainations are superior to any I have seen.
and... You are Welcome, sorry it is such a rough draft, but I'm not near my real PS kit.

Here is 2: the first one is using photomerge and cropping. The second one is manually masking them.
It is possible to use photomerge with all 3 images. And I believe that it is the better of the two.

Right here is a great place to learn photoshop. As you probably just learned, ask a question, post up some pics and we will help :)
