Heres one more. People my argue weather or not these cowboys are athletes, but I dont think there is any question about the athletic ability of the livestock.

Some people remember rodeo cowboys from another era when they all played just as hard as they worked. Nowdays to compete at the professional leval many of these guys train just as hard as many other athletes.

Wow! Great shots! The only thing about my 100-400 I don't like, is that it doesn't do f2.8... :( It would be great to be able to blur out the background on some of those.

My problem with the 100-400 is the push pull. If it was a twist, for me it would be perfect. 2.8 will not give enough sharp depth for the events of rodeo. Whenever I post someone allways comments about the bluring of the background, but in rodeo my customers want clear backgrounds they want to read those sponsor banners or see their buddys on the chutes. Most everything I shoot at f 5.6 because I need12 to15 feet of sharp photo minimum.

Dont get me wrong, the 70-200 2.8 is the most versitle sports lens out there. And if I could get the reach and the depth I like useing it I would. I own one and I do use it in small arenas. As for the blured backgrounds, I agree it makes the subject stand out and looks great, but I shoot what sells and my customers are not artists or photographers, they are cowboys.
