I would like anyone who has sports or motorsports photos taken with the bigma to please share. Preferably at the longer end, but any focal length will do. I would like to see some real world examples. ( I searched the archive thread, but not much in there for this).. thanks in advance.

Those rodeo photographs are excellent. What were the settings for those shots (shutter, ISO, aperture etc)? Very nice black and white conversion too. it really suits the subject matter.

Here are some shots taken at a show my son and I made it to last year. Only opportunity I have had so far to use the Bigma at an airshow.

Don't know, I usually shoot wide open at the long end.

Yup,
I'm one of those weirdo's that believes that it ain't about the lens or settings but more about composition and timing.
So I purposely leave them off so folks can just look at the image instead of looking at exif.
BTW my bigma is going to come up for sale (locally preferably) when the 120-400 is available.

I got a XTi last year and then upgraded to a 40D. I went to 4 Redskins games this year and took a Sigma 50-500mm zoom since my seats were waaaaaay up in the upper level.

It's nice to be able to zoom in to midfield at 500mm, then whip around and fire off a close-up at 50mm, too. This is my friend's son sitting next to me:

Thank you very much for posting those. I have just made the upgrade from a XTi
to a 40D and have not had chance to use the Bigma with it yet.I was thinking about selling the Bigma to fund a 400L but having seen those with the 40D I will definitely keep it.
Once again thanks you have saved me a lot of cash

The biggest difference you'll notice with the Bigma on the 40D vs the XTi is that ISO1600 is usable on the 40D and even 3200 is salvageable in PP with noise reduction software like Neat Image, Noiseware, or Noise Ninja.
With my XTi, I had to stay below ISO 800.
I got a 100-400mm/L last month, but I haven't had a chance to use it much yet... I took it to a basketball game and it did fine from the upper level. But I look forward to comparing 100-400mm vs Bigma once Spring gets here and my kids start soccer, then baseball, football, etc.
I don't plan on keeping both. I'm leaning towards keeping the 100-400mm, if for no other reason than because it's L & IS. I'll probably trade my Bigma for something at the other extreme... ultra wide angle (10-22mm or 11-16mm).
