I am in Houston. And I am going to say that one of my favorite places to shoot is Downtown. Trite, but still good for some interesting shots.
Some of my other faves are Westhiemer. There is always something going on in Montrose. The Galleria always has interesting people, but be prepared for dirty looks. The Museum District has quite a few unique sights if you are willing to go exploring on foot.
Of course since I do horse photography, my all time favorite place to shoot is at my friend's barn.
Really in Houston all you have to do is park your car and get out on foot just about anywhere inside the loop. Allen Parkway. Theater District. Freeway construction. Statue gardens. Churches (those are always good if you get past the tired old 'this is a church' shots). And the of course, the traffic. And trust me, if you spend a lifetime taking photos in Houston and never point your camera at the traffic you are missing out.
Ok. That is all I got.

I live in Houston too. Downtown is also one of my favorite places, especially on clear, low humidity days. The zoo is an excellent place to go as well. Try the Cockrill Butterfly center too. It's near the Museum of Natural Science in Hermann park.
The alligators at Brazos Bend SP are fun, but I haven't done that yet. There are groups that go there often, you can find them on Fred Mirandas site.

Well I am from nearby neighboring Beaumont. Thanks for sharing your photos Abel, very impressive. I am beginning my journey down the same path that you have been on. Form a point and shooter to a more serious shooter. I am trying to learn all I can at this time, can you suggest any good books you have found or other material? I am using a Digital Rebel, and have just ordered my 580ex flash. I am hoping it will be here before Christmas. I really liked your website and your Christmas card was very unique. Happy Holidays!
