I'm thinking about buying a canon 10d over ebay, but was wondering if you guys thought this auction seems safe...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43454&item=3856800 587&rd=1
The only reason i'm not too confident about this auction is because he has only sold 4 items...
Its either 10d over ebay or digital rebel from B&H, what do you recommend. oh and this would be my first time buying something from ebay.. thanks for the help.
Oh and I'm thinking about buying the vivitar 285 HV with it is this safe or should i buy a volt regulator?

He has sold only 1 item this year and it was very inexpensive. The only way I would agree to this deal is with an escrow account deal, or go to Alexandrea, Virginia and check out the equipment youself. I have bought several expensive items off ebay and never had a problem. Also sold a few.
Buyer beware, Ebay is built on trust and feedback....he hasn't earned much so far.

I wouldn't touch that one with a ten-foot light stand.

I would check butterflyphoto.com.
Their prices are really cheap and they are full products. I got my digital rebel there with lens kit for 800 shipped plus a 100 dollar rebate. Not bad for 700 imo.
Warning: They are extremely pushy on upselling. Just keep saying no and you will be set. I got my camera in 3 days and it is working great. It's not grey market or anything. The only reason I recommend them is because of price as their pushiness sucks

I wouldn't touch it either.
When I bought a 10D over ebay, the seller had over 250+ transactions and 99% positive feedback, and his previous history suggested he sold alot of camera equipment.
Made me feel a little safer, and everything went smoothly.
On another note, I got a STEAL on a used Canon GL2 camcorder off ebay. The guy only had 1 feedback and no picture or anything, needless to say nobody payed much attention to this auction. He was within driving distance of me, so I emailed him and arranged to meet and I saw the item in person and paid cash.
But there would be no way I would have bought it sight unseen.

I bought a new EOS300D kit via eBay in August. The seller had sold over 1000 lots and had a 99.2% feedback rating. Safe enough, I thought.
Problems began immediately. I used EFT to pay. The seller claimed there were problems with clearing funds so could not post until funds cleared as per small print. My bank steadfastly said there were no problems at their end and the money had been debited from my account immediately. Eventually, over 10 days after its ETA, the package did arrive. Despite being advertised as brand new (not advertised sealed however) the Canon box had been opened and there was no battery charger inside. The seller initially refused to accept responsibility but when I made threats of returning goods and filing a fraud complaint with eBay, the errant battery charger did appear.
Moral: buyer beware!! I certainly would not purchase anything so expensive via eBay again.

Go to fredmiranda.com, the classifieds, many people are unloading 10D's. Most everyone there is good to deal with. If they are do a search and you will find out. Screw somebody there, and your name is mud.

 FYI, paypal only covers your butt up to $500, after that you are on your own.
