Went down to Pembrey for British Rallycross today. I thought that it'd make for an interesting and exciting event, so I chose it over BTCC at Donington. This makes me sad now. It seems that Pembrey has grown somewhat since last autumn though, weeds have grown at least. It's in a rather sorry state and, well, as the 'home of Welsh motorsport', I'd say motorsport is homeless in Wales right now. Rallycross was a bit disappointing, but I don't want to make too much of a judgment, as I have a sneaking suspicion it may be the fault of the track. My time there was simply: 'You looked at your watch at 10:00, don't look again until 10:15' '10:03, how does that work?!' In fact, at 12 me and my Dad called it quits.

On a more positive note, the magic drainpipe really proved itself. AF was fast enough and IQ goes like this:

F2.8 – Very Sharp
F4 – Flawless
F5.6 – The 30D has long since run out of pixels

I simply cannot comprehend better optical quality, and I know my camera can't! So what next you ask? Well, I'm going to mount it on the EOS 30, get some Kodachrome 64, take a photo, get it blown up the size of my town, tape some magnifying glasses over my eyes, sit with my nose touching the print and grin for a long time.

Onto the photos, hope you enjoy them, I was feeling rather uninspired myself, and each one looks dangerously similar. Tough C&C welcome as always!

I toyed with the idea of going down to this; never been to a Rallycross before. Thankfully common sense prevailed and I chose Epynt!

Unfortunately I have to agree with you that Pembrey is in need of some major investment to bring it up to scratch. The galling thing is they still have the cheek to sting you £10-£12 to watch events there.

Love the panning shot of Doran, 'tis a belter so it is!

Ummm. Samey. Are you gonna be accredited? I imagine it'd be better like that. Expect grey weather! There's different angles, but the backgrounds are very uninteresting and so panning is really your best bet, unless you can get close enough just to take headon shots with very little else in the frame. Paddock wise there are no permanent garages and to get to the inside/get to the outside you have to wait for the racing to finish. The only toilets are on the inside of the track, so if you need to go and a 20 lap race has just started, you'll have to hold on! I look forward to your interpretation next week! You'll be impressed by the facilities no doubt! :P

First off these are nice photos, well done. I know full well what Pembrey is like at the start of the season. They are very reluctant to get the mowers out and sometimes there are bushes growing on top of the tyre walls obscuring the public's view of the track.

Pembrey circuit has long been a disgrace and the BARC (Wales) should be ashamed of the state of the place. To be honest, I think they have a bloody cheek charging admission. Anglesey has a much better claim to be "The Home of Welsh Motorsport". Pembrey is undoubtedly the worst maintained circuit in the country.
