Is there an easy way? I haven't found a way, without jumping through hoops, to do it in Lightroom and it's not looking promising in DPP.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Dunno about LR but you could export to PS and do it very quickly there. Just by enlarging the canvas size by a few pixels whilst having black as your background colour.

Create an action in PS and create your border with the click of the mouse :)

Do you have PS or just LR?

I have both.

or if you have CS2/3, just buy the script by Mike Framer. He is a member here too.

Ah, just figured it out, add 8px to width and height to the dimensions of my original image. Open up new document with the background being black. Select the whole original image and copy. Paste image onto black background.

Increasing the image size, as someone else already mentioned, is easier. You don;t even have to know how big your image is, just how wide you want the border.

ETA: DOH!!! I meant to say "Increasing the canvas size...". Sorry about that.

Canvas Size... is much quicker.

Another vote for Mike's Framer script - it not only does the frame but can add exif to the frame, size, drop shadow. An amazing tool for well under $20.

If you want to keep the image dimensions the same, you could Select All (Ctrl+A), then go to Edit -> Stroke and adjust the settings to your liking.

Wow, I'm surprised no one else has suggested adding Imagemagick/Mogrify for Lightroom.

On export you can add up to 5 borders of various sizes and colors. It works seamlessly, no need to even go to PS if you don't want to. And it is free.

Interesting link, Hoff, I'm going to check that out. Thanks.

Hi Anke, I hope you find it useful. It does a lot more than just add borders. I hope Adobe eventually mimics some of the features for the export module.

^ Thanks for that LR/Mogrify link. As a dedicated LR user, that rocks!

What if you havent got cs2/3, & you have photo shop 7.can you still do it with this?

The Mogrify plug-in is only for Lightroom. If you're developing in PS7 all you need to do is Image > Canvas Size with black as your background color.
