hello would like some advice of you guys please:D i have a 30d put would love to start taking sports pictures ect football ,horse racing ,surfing,ect ,what lence would you sugest ? do not wanna spend a fortune but got a budget of $1500 australian dollers or less :) many thanks

Not sure the exchange rate. But surfing will require some reach. The best bang for the buck for an low budget woul dbe the 100-400L IS USM.

I also vote for the 100-400mm

While I agree with Evan & Steve re: the 100-400, you are probably going to want to go to primes at some point. So start with the easy ones like the 400 f5.6 (rented if you can) and see how you like that as well.
Often times a 70-200 w/ 1.4 can be useful too. But depending on how close you can get to the action you want at least 350 on the long end.
