Morning, Eliza! Lovely bride and good shots. The dress is bright in the middle 4 pictures, but I don't know if the highlights are blown. I think if that is the effect you are looking for, it works. The skin tone is lovely, but being in a green forest, you could saturate the first one just a little. I really like the second one framed by the woods. The pictures seem a little flat, needs more depth, it could be the lens itself not giving you that. The last three are slightly soft which makes it hard to get the WOW factor out. I hope I helped. Keep working it. Looking at the EXIF data, you shot a lot in ISO 100-400 and shutter speed under 100. Even if you have a tripod and the bride is holding still, just the smallest movement will get a soft shot. Next time, adjust the shutter speed and see what you get.

You are welcome. In my case, when people think I know what I'm doing, I laugh. You should have seen my posts 2 years ago. I knew nothing compared to the shooters who did weddings a lot. Now I have 5 full years of weddings and events under my belt and a lot of gear, I feel like it is the photographer and the gear. It's amazing how forgiving the 70-200 2.8 IS is for my crappy talent in shooting sports, for instance :) I was shooting on the little green box for a long time, then went to P and now I shoot mainly Tv and Av and M. Flash is still a pain, but workable. Stay around. People are helpful.

one question on #4. i notice it's darker around edges. i'm assuming it's your flash. when you shoot your flash, do you use ttl on the flash?

The darkness in the corners were added with Photoshop.

Canonxtip... I use the standard 18 - 55mm EF-S, only got the camera about a month & a half now. Saving up for more goodies. ;)

Thank you for all the comments everyone!

eliza, do you shoot in manual mode with your flash in manual?

It varies between shooting in auto and AV mode. As for the flash, ETTL. It sets itself up according to your needs, I haven't messed around with it manually yet.
