Canon 40D & "BUSY" annoyance...

I have a Canon 40D and when I take car motion shots, I tend to get an annoying "busy" a lot. Im using a 2GB Sandisk Ultra III card.

What fast 4GB card would guys recommend to avoid getting the "BUSY" flashing at me...

What are your camera settings? Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? Are you shooting in "burst mode"? Do you have High ISO Noise Reduction set? Do you have Highlight Tone Priority set? Both those kill your buffer size. Rob Galbraith has tested a number of CF cards for the 40D (http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/camera_multi_page.asp?cid=6007-9257); you'll actually find that the larger cards are slightly slower than the same model card in smaller capacity.

Is it Ultra II or Extreme III? Even then, both those cards are plenty fast for the 40D (I use both versions). This thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=399634) says it could be a CF card problem. Does it happen with any other memory cards? The only other thing I can think of is if you max out the burst and the camera has to write the info.

I shoot raw and i think i have a one of those settings enabled, ill turn em off. ty

What Jon is wondering, is if you are shooting "Rapid Fire", just holding the shutter button down and letting the shutter fire away.

I was shooting in both H mode and the slower 3.5fps mode i think it is.

With RAW, the buffer's only 17 frames and IIRC High ISO Noise Reduction knocks that back to around 6-7 frames. Turn that off and your results should improve.
