1Ds works fine without flash. Put on 550EX flash and everything is under exposed no matter what you change. Put flash on 10D and everything is fine. What am I missing? This would be the third new Canon in a row I 'd have to send in for repair. By the way, the 1Ds used to work with this flash. Would re-setting the camera totaly help?

Just in case you've overlooked the obvious, have you tried checking the flash exposure compensation on the camera to make sure that you haven't inadvertantly set it to underexposure? My apologies if you've already checked that.

:D No apologies needed. I have been known to pull bonehead moves like that. Alas though, that is no the problem. After playing with it some more, now it works, sometimes?! ???
