OK, I've never done macro before. So, I borrowed a friends Kenko tubes and put them on my 50mm f1.8. The weather outside was not good so I had to resort to and inside shot - I didn't have any flowers.

This is my X-Ring from St. FX University (Antigonish, N.S.). The combo of the tubes and lens gives and incredibly narrow depth of field (plus I had it set to f4 - told you I was a noob to macro) - I definitely need more practice.

XTi, f4, ISO 1600, 1/20th.

Sorry for the delay folks...There were some fine entries this week. These really are getting tougher and tougher to judge. With that said, the one that stood out above the rest...

monty28428: Excellent macro, tack sharp on the details and plentty of isolation on the subject. I'm just glad the horsefly is sitting on a leaf instead of...well you know... Well done Monty! :D

Time restricts me from commenting on every one of the other fine entries, however these are other images that stood out,

MSJGD: Great color and detail. I find that the red bud to the left draws my eye away from the main subject, however this is a great shot.:)

gallix: Great caterpillar. You can even see his face. It seems a little underexposed and I wish there was more separation between the caterpillar and the leaf. None the less, well done!:)

Nice job everyone! Congratulations to the winners!:D:D

Yes, thanks, that's Ashley the Turtle. One of the kids pets that's been with us many years. She had just chowed on a strawberry, a bit of a red face, thus the title "Strawberry Desert".

Really Rob!! In the scheme of things, the tubes are not that expensive (especially if you get the Kenko ones) and they are loads of fun. They can open up a whole other universe...

This one is one of my favorites

Lots of people say "I'm on another planet most of the time" so broadening my photography to the universe should'nt be that hard ;) lol I've seen some on EBay at about £10 from China and they seem pretty OK, so I'll give it a go..............

Cracking shot Ed, and I really don't like those jaspers one bit...........
