Not quite sure if this is in the right area but....

I have 4 weddings over the next few weeks and now that the sun is finally out in the UK, the dreaded bright light shines on the screen at the back of the camera.

How do you Wedding Photographers - especially those that are living in lovely sunny climates - manage to check the composition of the shot on the back of the camera in extreme conditions. Is there a shade or cover you can buy to fit over?

Thank you - Gillian

You can buy a screen cover to shade from the sun, but I personally don't like them. Assuming you have a view finder composition should be right before you hit the shutter. A quick check to confirm critical points are as you want them. Obviously if your on a compact without a viewfinder your stuffed.....:)

I have a 5D. Thanks for the information - I will look one up to see.

You are right about nailing the shot before pressing the shutter. However, I always like to check for eyes open etc. Thanks

Don't make them face the sun. They will all be squinting. :)
I used to live in the UK. Isn't the sun a thing of worship there?

Yea it is and we've had some this week it's been great.

For a 5D I'd recommend big memory cards, they're cheap as chips these days. Switch to 3fps drive mode and fire off 4 or 5 frames every time you want to take a picture in bright sunshine. That should rule out most blinking eye problems and if you get one or two they'll be on different people in each image most likely and a simple copy and paste of an open eye from each image would cure that, for larger groups anyway;)

I think you would be mortally disappointed if you fitted a shade to your 5D, but each to his own. Try one on in the shop, Calumet do them i think, i'm sure Jessops (hucckk...tpiwth) will too.

All the best!
